Nano coated filter grid for enhanced moisture protection

Suitable for most Starkey, MicroTech, Audibel, NuEar & AGX hearing aids.

Can be used if you have previously used HearClear Wax Guards

Pack of 8 wax guards/ filters commonly used for Starkey hearing aids ‘in the ear’ (ITE) and ‘receiver in the canal’ (RIC) hearing aids for the last few years.

Starkey have improved the quality of the Hear Clear wax guards and they now come with a yellow stick in a blue case. The newest yellow HearClear wax guards are interchangeable with the older versions: black / red / orange / blue HearClear wax guard applicators, and also backwards compatible with the older Waxceptor wax guards.

The packaging is very similar to other wax guard manufacturers such as Unitron (Cerustop) and Signia (miniReceiver). Please note that Starkey HearClear are NOT compatible/ interchangeable with the visually similar wax guard products available such as:  Cerustop, Nanocare Cerustop and Signia wax guards.

How often should wax guards be changed?

Our advice is that you need to change them when you cannot hear anything out of your hearing aid or as a general rule of thumb preventatively is once a month.

Some patients need to change them more often, it really depends on the conditions of the individual ear canal and how much wax each person produces.

What is a HearClear wax guard/ filter stick?

A wax guard/ filter is attached/ mounted on one end of the stick: the white bit at the end of the black stick.

At the other end is a hook (the yellow end of the stick) for removing the used/ blocked wax guard from the end of your hearing aid receiver/ speaker.

Wax builds up in your hearing aids?

Ear wax is one of the main causes of malfunction.

During daily use of your hearing aids, ear wax can work its way into the sound outlet of the receiver/ speaker of the hearing aid and partially or completely block the passage of sound resulting in a ‘dead’ hearing aid.

Use these Wax guards to repel/ trap ear wax and moisture in order to protect your hearing aid’s receiver (speaker) and maintain hearing aid performance over months of daily use (depending on the amount of wax that your ears produce – varies from person to person)

In the ear hearing aids are especially vulnerable to wax problems due to their placement in the ear canal.

By using and changing the wax guard regularly, you can protect your In the Ear (ITE) hearing aids from being blocked with earwax, thereby minimising any earwax related problems

Why use HearClear Wax Guards?

Ear wax can build-up and cause your hearing aid to underperform. Wax can work its way into the tube of your hearing aid and either, fully or partially block sound output.

In-The-Ear (ITE) and Receiver in the Canal (RIC) hearing aids are more susceptible to wax problems due to their placement deep within the ear canal

By using a HearClear wax guard you can protect your ITE and RIC hearing aid from ear wax build-up, and maintain its performance.

The use of HearClear wax guard does not eliminate the need for daily cleaning procedures.

Since the amount of earwax produced by each individual can vary dramatically, it is recommended that the wax guard is checked daily.

How often should I change my wax guard?

Changing your HearClear wax guard varies from person to person.

If the sound is weak/ silent or if wax is visible in the wax guard, it’s time to change the wax guard.

We recommend you change it if you can visibly see a build-up of wax, or you notice the underperformance of your hearing aid.

We suggest you check it on a regular/ daily basis, and you clean it daily with your little wax brush.
